Estate grown from the spectacular hillside vineyard in the Ferguson Valley of the Geographe wine region, fruit is sourced predominately from the Gravel Pit block which was planted in 1998.

As the name suggests, the vineyard block had been used previously to excavate gravel to construct the roads within the hills of the Ferguson Valley.Soil is typically a deep layer of ironstone gravelly loam.

A style which exudes vibrancy, juicy and spicy character, matched to a full flavoured and complex palate.

Winemaker Notes
The season for the Geographe wine region was cool and dry. The five months until the end of January had yielded little rain, about 70mm less than the same period last year The cooler weather also disrupted flowering and fruit set resulting in much smaller bunch sizes and high incidence of hen and chicken. The January 2019 average temperature of 21.3 was two degrees Celsius lower than the 23.3 of 2016.

I was not a shiraz fan, until I tried this! I love this wine, very smooth full-bodied shiraz, perfect when entertaining and wanting a quality wine. Love it!

We always enjoy the Gravel Pit Shiraz, the fact it is well priced to members and produced in our region adds to its attractiveness. The flavours and aroma are consistent and represent good quality and enjoyable drinking. we rate this close to our finer quality reds.
